Many people want to have a skin smooth and their skin became healthy. So a lot of us use many kinds of product to give your skin a younger looking and fresh look.

One of the problems that we have in our skin is pigmentation it’s really hard to ignore because it really shows it in our skin. How to prevent it is the best way so that it can remove all the brown or dark spot in our skin.

What is Skin Pigmentation?

Pigmentation means complexion. Skin pigmentation disorders affect the color of your skin. Your skin gets its color from a pigment called melanin. Special cells in the skin make melanin. When these cells become damaged or unhealthy, it affects melanin production. Some pigmentation disorders affect just patches of skin. Others affect your entire body.

Skin pigmentation is the changes in skin color. For instance, you have a fair and nice skin texture then you let your skin overexposure to sunlight the skin pigmentation may appear. Your skin color may change its color and sometimes small patches or brown patches may be seen on your skin.

However, whatever we do to take care of our skin still pigmentation may occur due to our skin aging. Pigmentation may develop we getting older and there are so many types of pigmentation. What are the Causes of Skin Pigmentation?

Over exposure to sunlight

The sun exposure may cause discoloring of the skin that becomes skin pigmentation. If we let our self-expose to sunlight in a long period our skin texture may change and can have a skin pigmentation because of the patches that may cause UV rays or sunlight.

Genetics

Some of us have already a skin discolored since birth it is because of our genetics. If your family or your grandparents have skin patches over the years you may also have or inherit it because of the blood that flows in our body. It is genetically inherited and not only we have it when we get older.

Hormonal change

When women become pregnant their skin may change because of the hormonal imbalance. It may cause skin pigmentation if the skin texture will change like it may have a dark spot on the skin or patches of the skin. Pregnant women may change their hormones because of the increase in melanin production. Also, women who take or use birth control pill may cause skin discoloration because of the increase in the production of melanin.

Uneven skin appearance

If we getting old our skin becomes change it sometimes clog or we can see skin aging that’s the time skin pigmentation appeared it show some patches on our face and even in our neck. Our skin appearance may change and we could notice some dark or brown spot because of aging. When we get older our skin may cause many changes and pigmentation may appear it also known as hyperpigmentation.

Unhealthy food we take

If we take unhealthy food to our body it also causes skin discolored. Because the melanin may overproduce that cause our skin to have an even color or it may be skin pigmentation. Our body needs healthy food to digest so our skin becomes healthy and can protect our skin from skin discolored or damage.

Having too much stress

Too much stress can cause your skin from pigmentation. Because the melanin production will increase that our skin may be in trouble. Too much stress can reduce the skin appearance and can produce skin damage. It can happen because our skin cannot have time to relax if we are too much stress. Stress has different stages but if we let you from too much stress that’s the time it triggers the dark spot on our skin or brown spot. The patches that our skin have may trigger and can because of skin pigmentation.

Vitiligo

If we see some white patches on our face or on our skin that what we called vitiligo. Vitiligo may develop from skin pigmentation because of the increase of white patches in our skin. Vitiligo can appear in many areas of our body. It also runs in the family and if your family has the history of having vitiligo you may also have it on your skin.

How to Prevent Skin Pigmentation

Use sunscreen

Using sun protection may keep your skin from pigmentation. It helps our skin to reduce the damage that causes sunlight over exposure. Sunscreen with SPF may protect and manage our skin to sunlight or UV rays. Many of us always use moisturizer for our skin but it is better to use a moisturizer with SPF to avoid our skin discoloration. In using a moisturizer with SPF make sure that you use sunscreen protection base on your skin condition. Don’t ever use a moisturizer with a heavy ingredient if you have sensitive skin. It may damage your skin and can cause red spots and other skin condition.

 Using moisturizer

A moisturizer is very useful to our skin because it helps and manages our skin from many harmful bacteria. It also protects our skin from damage. Using moisturizer will benefit our skin to become smooth and healthy. A moisturizer with light ingredients is better for those type of skin who have sensitive or very oily skin. A moisturizer with salicylic acid ingredients, hyaluronic acid, and with emollient is good for dry skin. You can also use a moisturizer with antioxidant for all types of skin.

Eat healthy food and exercise daily

Eating a healthy and diet food would stop us from having a skin pigmentation. What we don’t know is if we live a healthy leaving and an everyday exercise our body becomes healthy and of course our skin becomes more healthy and soft. This will help us not having a discolored skin if we take care of our health and body.

Skin Pigmentation Treatment

Skin pigmentation can be treated in many different ways. It is treated also in different level according to our skin condition. Because skin pigmentation can be treat by a dermatologist if your skin has a deeper discoloration.

  • Skin pigmentation can be treat by using a moisturizer with lightening ingredients or skin bleaching agents. It can be useful to our skin discoloration because it helps to lighten the skin pigmentation and it can reduce the uneven patches.
  • Skin pigmentation can also be cure by using a medical treatment like chemical peel, dermabrasion, and laser therapy.
  • If you treat skin pigmentation you better avoid yourself from sun exposure. Because if you let your skin exposure to sun your skin may be a trigger and the patches or dark spot may increase.
  • Sometimes skin pigmentation can be treated by surgery.
  • If you have skin pigmentation you must avoid eating food like chocolate, ice cream, pastries, and other food that is not healthy for skin pigmentation.
  • Avoid using many different kinds of cosmetics if you have skin pigmentation so that the skin discoloration will not trigger and will not increase all the patches of the skin.

Home Remedies for Skin Pigmentation

Using home remedies to reduce skin pigmentation will help to improve the appearance of the skin.

Honey

Using raw honey is very helpful to reduce skin pigmentation. Because honey contains nutrients and enzymes. It is good as cleanser and best to exfoliate skin pigmentation. It also good for treatment of skin discoloration to lessen some freckle and dark spot.

Apply raw honey to a face and leave it for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes wash it with warm water and pat it dry with a face towel.

Tomato juice

All citrus fruits are beneficial to our body and to our skin. Especially tomato juice it lessens the appearance of skin pigmentation. Because tomato contains lycopene, vitamin A, nutrient, and rich in antioxidants which help to improve skin tone.

Apply tomato juice using a cotton pad in the face. Leave it around 20 to 30 minutes and wash it with warm water after 30 minutes. Pat it dry with a face towel.

Pineapple juice

Using pineapple juice can eliminate dead skin cell and help minimized skin pigmentation. Pineapple juice is not only good for skin but most especially for our body health. Because pineapple juice contains protein, potassium, calcium, iron, and vitamin C.

Apply pineapple juice using a cotton pad in all areas of the skin especially those uneven skin. Leave it for 20 to 30 minutes and after staying pineapple juice in the face wash it with warm water. Pat it dry with a face towel.

Cucumber

Cucumber is also good for reducing skin pigmentation because cucumber contains vitamin K, copper potassium, and vitamin C. Cucumber help to improve skin complexion and it also helps to rejuvenate skin. Cucumber also helps to fade away some dark spot on the skin and freckles. It also contains ascorbic acid that helps minimize puffy eyes and fade away some dark circles under the eyes.

Put some sliced cucumber in the face and in some areas of dark spot of the skin leaving it until 30 minutes. The more you use it every day the better to see the result of the dark spot will lessen.

Lemon juice

Lemon juice also good to lessen the skin appearance and help reduce skin pigmentation. Because lemon juice is rich in vitamin C and citric acid. It also has antibacterial ingredients that can minimize blackhead and can treat acne skin. Using lemon juice for treatment of skin pigmentation is not good if we let our skin exposure to sunlight. Whenever you use lemon juice for treatment make sure that you take good care of your skin and avoid your skin to overexpose to the sun. Lemon juice can also help skin for lightening and reduce the dark patches of the skin.

Apply lemon juice to the face using a cotton pad and leave it for 30 minutes. After that wash it with warm water and pat it dry with a face towel.
